Illustration: Superhero Project: Super Carter
“The Superhero Project is a nonprofit organization that empowers youth through art and storytelling, particularly those facing medical challenges, disabilities, or trauma. They work with children and teens to create superhero alter egos, which are then visualized by artists as personalized superhero posters.”

For my first poster, I got to draw Carter, a very charming and cool kid who’s living with cystic fibrosis and autism. Super Carter’s mission is to “clean the water so that all the bass and little fish have a healthy place to live.”
Carter’s Mom sent this in response to the poster:
“Super Carter got his artwork today and is in love!!! Y’all NAILED it!!!! 💜 It truly portrays the strength that we see Carter every day….. THANK YOU!!!“
And that’s just about the best response I could have ever hoped to receive.

In addition to the poster, the artwork was also published in a Superhero Project coloring book, a gift for donors.
